Dan Gesualdo just reached 100 species in Erie County in 2 days (all species in Erie County), with a final bird tonight: Barred Owl. This is absolutely stunning and speaks of incredible dedication, fascination and love for county birding, respect for local patch appreciation and knowledge, the sheer diversity one can encounter by digging deep into all habitats, the importance of Lake Erie marshes and watersheds, the hard work of others before us to protect natural areas, and again, sheer passion and gusto.

Seeing all of the folks out birding the state like machines in the past 2 days is just a testament to how incredible this hobby/lifestyle is. The experiences, the finds, the shared sightings, the teamwork.

Congrats Dan on a state record and to all who are going for their own goals of gold.
