There seems to have been quite the movement of Snow Geese over the last 2 days. All reports I've seen have been of birds on the ground or groups flying west/southwest. Cincinnati area reports (all locations Hamilton Co. OH unless otherwise noted) include: 510 Snow Geese, 57 Greater White-fronted Geese in the Great Miami River floodplain near the OH-IN line seen by Jack Stenger at 5:30pm 1-18. There were 90 Snows there at 11:25 am. 126 Snow, 6 Ross's Geese along Oxford Road near Miami Whitewater Wetlands seen by me at 5:40pm 1-18. This likely included most of the 75+ reported feeding along Willey Rd a 1/2 mile away earlier in the afternoon. 44+ Snows and 18+ White-fronts over Fernald Preserve by Ruhikant Meeteiā at 1pm 1-18. 36 Snow Geese flying west just south of the Fernald Preserve seen by me yesterday (1-17) at 4:41pm 50 over southern Dearborn Co. IN (a few miles from OH) by Dave Brinkman yesterday (1-17) around 4:30pm. Be sure to watch for and report flocks like these over the next day or so in SW Ohio! Additionally, there have been at least nine Snow Goose reports in north and central Kentucky in the same time period of large flocks with 175 and 200 being the biggest. Ewing Bottoms in Jackson Co. IN had 5,500 Snow Geese reported this morning. More info on these is on the Indiana and Kentucky listervs, but they're certainly part of the same movement going on in SW Ohio right now.
