An afternoon drive along the west shore of Hoover, with stops at Maxtown, Area F, Walnut boat launch, and the Dam & spillway, found little in the way of migrants in an intermittent drizzle. The lower reservoir had few waterbirds, save for a flock of ducks just above the dam. Notables included: Lesser Scaup - small group of 16 above the dam Red-br.Mergansers - a nice flock of 70 strung out along the east shore above the dam Horned Grebes - 8 were above the dam Bonaparte's Gulls - at least 10 were hanging around the duck flock above the dam. Woodpeckers - few along Hoover shore, but nearby Inniswood had 1 Pileated and 1 Red-headed Yellow-rumped Warblers - 1-2 were at Maxtown and below the Dam Tree Sparrows - 3 were still below the dam, including one singing Grackles - a flock was hanging around Maxtown boat launch ______________________________________________________________________ Ohio-birds mailing list, a service of the Ohio Ornithological Society.
