I bracketed a job with trips to this metropark north of Columbus, visiting the riverfront & Big Meadow in the morning, and the Coyote Run Trail (upland fields & wood edge) in the afternoon. There was a modest fallout in the morning, with very little stretching into the afternoon. Notables included: Flycatchers - Great Crested and 2 Least along Coyote Run Vireos - a few Warbling along the river, a few Red-eyed in the upland woods adjacent to Coyote Run Gnatcatchers - still one of the most abundant migrants, with double figures for the upland Thrushes - Woods, Swainson's, & Veery, all along the river early Mimids - Catbirds in both locations Cedar Waxwings - several pairs along the riverfront Warblers - 11 species, with no big #s; included Yellow, Parula, Nashville, Black-thr.Green, Yellow-rump, Yellow-throated, Black&White, N.Waterthrush, Hooded, ComYellowthroat, Yellow-br.Chat Tanagers - Scarlet along the river, 2 Summers singing along the wood edges of Coyote Run Grosbeaks,Buntings - Rose-breasted grosbeaks and Indigo Buntings singing in both locations Sparrows - still a few White-throateds lingering at both locations, along with expected Chipping-Field-Song Orioles - 4 baltimopres and an Orchard along the river ______________________________________________________________________ Ohio-birds mailing list, a service of the Ohio Ornithological Society.
