The parkland around Griggs dam was hopping with migrants & resident yesterday.  The rainy weather has made for high water in the local drainages, so the herons & egrets of the nearby Shrum Mound Quarry rookery have been clustering around the few shallow water areas in the vicinity, and the dam is one of them.  Yesterday the dam and approach pool had 15+ Great Egrets, plus several Great Blue Herons.  The woodland and disc golf course below the dam also held a good assortment of migrants, including

Great Crested Flycatcher
E.Kingbirds
Warbling & Red-eyed Vireos
4 types of Swallow : Tree Cliff, Rough-winged, and Bank
Wood Thrush
Ruby-cr.Kinglets
9 types of Warbler: Nashville, Parula, Yellow, Yellow-throated, Yellow-rumped (most abundant), Black-thr.Green, Palm, N.Waterthrush (2-3), ComYellowthroat
Scarlet Tanager
Rose-br.Grosbeaks (4+)
Indigo Bunting
Baltimore Orioles (4-5)
