One time I wasn't sure of a bird song out west and thought I would play the song back from Merlin at the lowest possible volume and still cup it and hold near my ear. I thought there's no way the bird was going to hear me, but it did. Since then I have never played Birdsong in the field. Also, playing sounds of other wildlife could also be disruptive.
