Thanks to Cam Lee who found a Western Sandpiper at Big Island late this afternoon. The bird is on the eastern side of the middle impoundment. Walk out the dike between the eastern pond and the middle pond. Go about 3/4-7/8 of the way to the woods. The bird is on the left side (middle impoundment) on the other side of a strip of water. It is in a spot where the vegetation kind of goes back in for a bit. The bird can be identified by its black legs, long, thin decurved bill and a reddish patch on its shoulder.

Big Island is in Marion Co. and the ponds are on the north side of LaRue Prospect Road. The water in these ponds is going down quickly. Unless the area gets more rain, these ponds will be dry if a few days.
