Sooty terns have shown up at a dozen US states, the most northern of them reported ours in Ohio. Needless to say, these occurrences are caused by the relentless storms moving into the southeast. In a normal year, many sooties would have nested in the southeast, at the Dry Tortugas off the southern FLorida coast. Ohio's sooty visitors are the northernmost reports thus far, but they could show up in Michigan, etc. The ABA has an app ______________________________________________________________________ Ohio-birds mailing list, a service of the Ohio Ornithological Society.
