Duck numbers have decreased substantially on the gravel pit lake on
Roxanna-New Burlington Road, but are increasing at the adjoining Spring
Valley Wildlife Area. Recently the ducks there are scattered across the
entire lake, including near the parking area (i.e. not just on the far side
of the lake up against the marsh). Today I saw 10 species of ducks (in
approximate order of abundance):

gadwalls
Am. widgeon
green-winged teal
buffleheads
shovelers
ring-necked
scaup
hooded mergansers
blue-winged teal
wood duck

Also coots, pied-billed grebes, 2 great egrets, ring-billed and Bonaparte's
gulls.
