Activity is picking up at the Hoover Nature Preserve. Tonight's southerly winds should bring in additional activity.
Today (Tuesday May 1) there were Prothonotary Warblers along the Area M Boardwalk and in Area N along the old roadbed and the interior areas. Other warblers seen or heard included Yellow-throated Warblers, Northern Parula, Black-throated Green Warbler, Yellow-rumped Warbler and Palm Warbler.
Other notable species were Hermit Thrush, Wood Thrush, Bonaparte Gill, Herring Gull, Osprey, Broad-winged Hawk, Cliff Swallow, Wood Duck, Red-headed Woodpeckers, Warbling Vireo, Gray Catbird, Blue-gray Gnatcatcher, Ruby-crowned Kinglet and Eastern Towhee.
Hoover Meadows was quiet although several Yellow Warblers were calling.
Char-Mar Preservation Park had Baltimore oriole, Red-eyed Vireo, Ruby-crowned Kinglets and Pine Warblers.
