Incredible two days of warblering at Magree Marsh boardwalk - given the leafless trees, the warblers were in full view and abundant - All the expected warblers, and some unexpected in attendance including: Too many to count: -Yellow- rumped -Black-throated Green -Northern Parula -Yellow -Chestnut-sided -Palm Multiple sightings of: -Cerulean -Black- and- white -Black-throated Blue -Orange-crowned -Yellow -Blue-winged -Bay-breasted -Magnolia -American Redstart -Cape May -Tennessee -Blackburnian (one flew into my face) -Ovenbird Single sightings: Worm-eating Kentucky Common Yellowthroat Hooded Pine Northern-Waterthrush I missed the Golden-winged warbler - but there is still tomorrow morning……. There were at least a dozen Swainsons Thrushes on the beach by the Estuary Trail as if they were waiting for a ride to Canada Dozens of kinglets There was a cooperative Lincoln’s sparrow on the boardwalk I recommend that if you are in the area you spend some time at Howards Marsh - a new Toledo Metropark, several miles west on Rt 2 - it is a magnficiant 1000 acre protected area of marsh with a loop auto route and plenty of boardwalks and viewing access. On Howard Rd, near the Marsh, 22 Avocets were cavorting in a field. Can you tell it was an inspiring two days and great intro to the migration season.
