It is time for the spring time change! On Sunday April 5th, from 4:00 am - 6:00 am, both the MiamiU (IBM academic VM/CMS) and MUADM (IBM administrative MVS) systems will be unavailable for time change related activities. MCIS will set the system clocks forward 1 hour. Affected services include: Mail: - Electronic mail, forwarding, LISTSERV and POP services through MiamiU will be unavailable. (Incoming e-mail will be spooled for later delivery.) - POP mail will be unavailable if your POP (desktop) mail client points to MiamiU.Muohio.Edu. All other POP account locations will remain unaffected. Batch machines: Batch jobs will be stopped. That means that the operator issues a STOP BATCH command several hours before the machine is taken down. If the batch job finishes, another one is not started. However, some batch jobs run for a very long time. If the batch job is not finished when VM is taken out of service, the job is restarted from the beginning when VM comes back up. Disconnect processes: Clients whose accounts are running in DISCONNECT mode PLEASE NOTE: An IPL executes functions similar to a workstation 'reboot'. UserIds will revert to default environment settings when MiamiU returns to service. MCIS regrets this necessary inconvenience. Please address any questions or concerns to the Help Desk (voice: 529-7900) or to me directly. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Lisa Ehrichs, Data Support Analyst Voice: (513)529-3833 Miami Computing & Information Services Fax: 529-5577 364 Gaskill Hall Mail: [log in to unmask] Miami University Oxford, OH 45056
