On Wed, Jan 24, I had an odd collection of blackbirds for my yard in January.
As well as the regular winter feeder birds, I had a half dozen or more
Brown-headed Cowbirds and one male Red-winged Blackbird at my ground feeder
(containing a mix of white millet and black oil sunflower seeds.) As I was leaving,
I saw a lone Eastern Meadowlark perched on a power line. This is the first
January for all three species in the 10 years I have lived here.
