Unfortunately, it appears as if either a predator raided the nest today or the nest collapsed.
I was home after noon on & I checked it several times. She was on the nest. Around 4 I looked again & it appeared the front of the nest was gone. While I was trying to figure out exactly what I was looking at, she flew in, walked around & left shortly thereafter.
When hubby arrived, he hiked to the edge of the ravine, to find some sticks & parts of eggshell. I had not heard any racket, but did observe a redtail overhead several times today.
This is so disappointing!.
