This must be my day for strange osprey occurances. After making my post
this morning about osprey fishing small ponds, my husband & I decided to go to
Walborn Reservoir to check out the eagle & osprey nests on Reeder Rd. After
taking a good look at the eagle on the nest, we turned our attention to the
osprey. What a shock to see, not an osprey sitting on the nest, but a Canada
Goose! That is REALLY HIGH for a goose nest! I sure would like to be there
when those goslings leave the nest! I bet they will be yelling at their
parents "What were you thinking? We are not Wood Ducks!"
We later ran into Wildlife Officer Tim Jordon who told us it appears the
osprey has relocated to a cell tower on McCallum Rd, east of the Reeder Rd nest.
We drove to the cell tower & sure enough, there is what looks like an
Osprey nest but we didn't see the birds. This nest is unusual in that there is no
water within sight, though it isn't all that far away, as the Osprey flies.
