This PM the Cowan Lake spillway looked good but there were no shorebirds today.Lotus Trail proved to be more productive. There was a cooperative Northern Parula, and at the end of the trail two of the five Great Egrets which Bob Powell reported were still there along with about fifty Ring-billed Gulls and an Osprey. A Solitary Sandpiper fed very close to the shore and there were other shorebirds I could not ID without my scope. The mudflat also looked good and will undoubtedly attract more migrants in the coming weeks. Other birds heard along the trail were a Red-shouldred Hawk, Towhee and House Wren.
Great Weather Cheers, Larry Gara. Wilmington
