This afternoon ,while in the Conneaut area ,I had the opportunity to visit with ,and view the efforts of the Holmes County Hawk Watch Crew, at Malek Park , for about a half hour. While there a male Purple Finch was visible and singing nearby. I am sure Bruce Glick will later post a list of thier sightings. Note:It is 160 miles one way,for them to drive to Conneaut. 320 miles round trip for the hawks.Dedication!!!
At about 2PM ,I did a drive thru at the sandspit area and the lagoon.
Here are some of the highlights:
American Golden-Plover 2 Non-breeding plumage
Caspian Tern 35+
Black-crowned Night-Heron 2 Adults
Greater Scaup 1 female (Could this be the same individual that was here
this past Fall, August thru November)
Great Black-backed Gull 6+
Blue-winged Teal 1 pair
Northern Harrier 1 female
American Coot 6
Double-crested Cormorant 50+ on breakwall
