I spent the weekend at Springfield L. near Akron. Birds of interest there were double-crested cormorant, green heron, osprey. 2 Caspian terns, and a couple common nighthawks. These are my first nighthawks this year, and I've spent plenty of time listening for them in a bunch of places in NE Ohio, NW Pennsylvania, and even Kentucky. Twenty years ago it seemed like they occupied every town and city in this part of the country---now, I'm lucky to find any before the migrants appear in August. Upon arriving home last night here in Poland Twp. (Mahononing Co.), I was greeted by a calling barred owl of all things. Later, Craig
