I happened to be down at Riverside Park along the Muskingum River in Zanesville this morning, so out of curiousity I took a walk around the place to see what was around. Even without binoculars, birds weren't too hard to find by listening and pishing. In 45 minutes I found n. flickers, Carolina wren, golden-crowned kinglet, e. bluebird, Am. robins, n. mockingbird, cedar waxwings, field sparrow, song sparrows, 10 white-throated sparrows, and dark-eyed juncos. Among the usual suspects were Carolina chickadees, always a treat for a northerner like me. Along the highways of Muskingum, Guernsey, and Tuscarawas Counties I saw a fair number of turkey vultures and red-tailed hawks, but only 2 Am. kestrels. Later, Craig
