For the past couple of weeks I've observed the female American Kestrel in
my neighborhood sitting on top of a pole acting as if she was waiting for
her mate to return. This morning he came back after a four month absence
and mounted her. I also saw my first Red-Winged Blackbird of the season
this morning. Other species observed in my apartment complex this morning
included:
Canada Goose - 16
Mallard - 5
Great Blue Heron - 1
Cooper's Hawk - 1
Red-tailed Hawk - 1
Mourning Dove - 32
Blue Jay - 2
American Crow - 2
American Robin - 17
Northern Mockingbird - 2
European Starling - 58
Song Sparrow - 6
Dark-eyed Junco - 16
Northern Cardinal - 5
House Finch - 1
American Goldfinch - 21
House Sparrow - 7
