This morning we observed five birds on Preston Road at 11:00 AM . Two were
tending the exisiting nest (west side of the street), picking up and moving
sticks with their bills. Two were sitting on the branch that arches over the
center of the street (approximate location of the nest destroyed by the hurricaine/windstorms), preening. A fifth bird was sitting on a branch on the west side of the street, southwest of the preening pair.
We were very happy to welcome them back to town. We hope the preeners
rebuild their nest when they are satisfied with the state of their feathers!
