I stepped out of work today in Valley City, Medina Co and heard the distinctive call of an UPLAND SANDPIPER. Sure enough, I looked out to see this bird foraging on the grassy lawn , which ironically was just mown yesterday. I've been glancing at this lot for three years now, thinking of Uppies/Buffies, so it's about darn time!
On to West Creek, where NO migrant warbler sp. were observed in THREE hours! I have been birding this spot for years, and have never spent a September day with no warbler sp. here to be sure...which I suppose makes today notable in its futility. Oddly enough, there were nine Swainson's and a Gray-cheeked Thrush present, as well as FOS migrant Lincoln's and Swamp Sparrows.
Good birding -
