This morning Tim & I headed to Big Island to look for the Ruff. We arrived about 9:30; there were already several cars of people looking in various locations. After about 20 minutes or so of searching, it was located in a pool west of Herr Rd. (4 telephone poles) on the north side of Rt 95. We watched it for about 15-20 minutes & we all saw it fly off to the west. Many of us then drove on to the Observation Platform where it was relocated in a pool straight north of the platform. Many very good looks as he fed & preened. He walks very fast!
In addition to seeing people from all over Ohio, we also noticed license plates from West Virginia, Massachusets, even Minnesota! And Tim & I seemed to be the only ones for whom this was a life bird.
