stopped by GORDON with one of my school
students who wanted to see a swan (it wasn't
there). we were there less than half an hour.
bird numbers much less than yesterday.
cool breeze from the north.
birds mostly 50+ yards off of shore,
got closer to a few as i walked out on the ledge easterly.
(i saw what i think to be a 3+foot carp in the harbor south
of the eastern docks against the close breakwall - 2 geese
on nests there)
Mergansers
Common - less than 50 from 72nd eastward
Hooded - less than a dozen
males stii outnumber the feamles but less of a ratio
maybe 3:1 today
Grebes
Eared (1)
Pied-billed (2)
Cormorants
less than a dozen today
Mallards (2)
Canada Geese (less tha 20)
Gulls still EVERYWHERE
loud and obnoxious - ringed-billed and herring
only ones i identified
WILDWOOD - (less tha 30 min there)
about 20 yards of ice near the launch with
a couple dozen gulls (RB + H only)
in the parking lot, flying around and in the
parking lot totalled around 100 of said gulls.
nothing in Euc Creek
out near the northern docks were
Grebes
Eared (5 - 2 females)
Pied-billed (3 - 1 female)
Mergansers
Common (6 - 2 females)
Red-breated (9 - 2 females)
