Despite the lousy weather I was pleased this morning to find some good birds
in the back yard here in Boardman (Mahoning Co.). A Ruby-crowned kinglet
was actively feeding in the morning. A couple hours later a Blue-headed
vireo passed through, and a male Pileated woodpecker was also hanging around
for a while. Fox sparrows continue under the feeder - they've been here
over a month now, joined by an influx of White-crowneds, Chippings, Towhees,
Purple finches and a Field sparrow.
On Sunday there were 17 Pectoral sandpipers and at least 3 Savannah sparrows
in the flooded fields on Calla rd.
