The Black-throated Gray Warbler has been consistent today along the Magee
Wildlife Beach trail. If not familiar with the area see the map at
http://www.bsbo.org/birding/pdf/Magee_Marsh_Map.pdf The area of the
sighting is in the upper right area of the map.
As several have already mentioned, this bird is quite cooperative. Keep
along the outer edge of the goldenrod and hopefully it will come to you. It
is feeding from ground level to about 6 feet up. The only hitch in
observation mid-day has been when one individual "needed" to walk around the
bird spooking it to parts unknown.
In addition four Glossy Ibis are being reported along the Auto-tour of
Ottawa NWR in Unit 8b. Check the map at
http://www.bsbo.org/birding/pdf/OttawaNWRMap-AutoTour.pdf
for the location.
A good variety of warblers are around with even a late Yellow Warbler seen
near the Black-throated-Gray. Around 20 species have been encountered in the
past couple of days in the Magee/Ottawa/BSBO area.
An increase in Scarlet Tanager and the first Winter Wren and White-throated
Sparrows are being recorded.
Good Birding!
