in Euclid @ 8:45 - 9:15 this morning
wind chilly!!!! feels colder that the 26* w/
strong winds from the south
30+ Buffleheads
8 Scoter sp - too far out to ID w/out scope
40+ Canada Geese
1 RBMergs
-a few east flying Mergs out 1+ mile (less than
100 in the 25 min here)
-there are a couple rafts of gulls WAY out and to
the west of the pier - too far away
very few gulls flying about
9:25 - 9:40 @ Wildwood
200+ gulls on ice in marina RBs (except)
1 Great BBGull
2 Herrings
1 Flying Bonie
2 Buffleheads
4 Mallards
8 Canada Geese
10 EStarlings
5 RPigeons
10:00 - 10:20 Whiskey Island/Wendy Park
marina docks holding
several hundred RBGulls
20ish RBMergs
10ish Bonies
10ish Mallards
2 Canvasbacks
inside the breakwall (out to the lake)
several thousand gulls
all IDed RBGulls except
2 Herring

RBMergs are not easy to find/see
<100 closer to breakwall

20 Canada Geese (in parking lot)
11:05 CEI in/out take
1 Long-tailed duck
(when looking for it, it continually keeps flying
closer to shore after drifting out - it stays pretty close
to the rocks and you might have better luck seeing it
by the in/out take canals if you cannot see it closer to
the parking lot)
100+ RBMergs
10ish Coots on the west side of the in/out takes
very few gulls to be seen
@ Noon i get a call from Jen Brumfield inviting me
to South Chagrin to see a
Saw Whet Owl -
how she and her friend (whose name escapes me - sorry!)
is amazing!! nice size evergreen stand w/80 foot high trees
and hidden 50+ feet up in a tangle was the cutest little owl
ever!! THANKS JEN!!
