Sorry for the late post. Friday, while driving along Ridgewood Road east
toward the I-77 Ridgewood/Miller interchange (Fairlawn/Copley west of
Akron) I saw a kingfisher sitting on the power line where Schocalog Run
passes under Ridgewood road, just west of Ridgewood Crossing shopping
center. I have driven through this spot almost daily for 20 years and have
never seen anything as interesting as a kingfisher here! This is a rather
heavily developed area, and I'm sure the water quality isn't great in that
ditch, so it's good to know a kingfisher may be able to find habitat and
food here. I hope I see it again. If anyone else sees a kingfisher in this
general area, please post or email me.
