Sorry to be too vague, but yesterday I felt sure I saw two surprisingly
small cormorants in a roost of a couple dozen on Hoover Reservoir,
visible on an exposed bar off the western shore, just north of the
county-line bridge along Sunbury Rd. I just didn't have the
magnification to see more detail than that. Since I won't be able to
get out today, to observers who are out I recommend a stop to check out
the possibility of neotropic cormorants; with a scope it shouldn't take
long. Again, there are a number of pull-offs not far north of the
Smothers Rd bridge where you can get a look if they're still there.
There is no accepted record of this species in Ohio, but a number in
adjacent states.
