The Columbus Audubon trip to this MetroPark in Reynoldsburg (SE of Columbus) found lots of migrant flycatchers, but other migrants were furtive and hard to see. We hiked the Beech-Maple loops, and also made an enjoyable side trip to the Nature Center. Notable birds included:
Hummingbirds - 2-3 were around the feeders at the Nature center
Pileated Woodpeckers - a pair along the Maple loop
E.Wood Pewees - most noticeable migrant of the morning, with 16-20 over 4 hours
Olive-sided Flycatcher - 1 briefly seen west of Ashton Pond in the dying ash trees
Acadian Flycatcher - 1-2 around the Beech loop
Great Crested Flycatchers - 1-2 around the Beech Loop
Red-eyed Vireo - surprisingly few with only 2-3 on the morning
Blue-gray Gnatcatchers - 2 were hanging around the Nature Center trees
Wood Thrush - at least 1 was calling along the Maple Loop
Warblers - a few around the nature center plus a flock along the Maple Trail yielded 8 species: Blue-winged (2), Nashville, Magnolia, Chesnut-sided, Blackburnian (parking lot), Redstart (2), Black&White, Canada
Sparrows - E.Towhee, Chipping, Field, Song
