I was on the beach at the Lake Erie Bluffs in Lake County yesterday morning.
There was a nice movement of gulls on the lake and overhead. Surprisingly
there were more herring gulls and Bonaparte's gulls than ring-billed gulls.
Nothing unusual with the Bonaparte's, but a nice third cycle glaucous gull
out on the lake. There was a large group of red-breasted mergansers, 1,000
or so out on the lake also. The only other ducks were a small group of
buffleheads.
I also had a couple small groups of redpolls totaling about 40 birds. There
were also 3 fox sparrows. There is a lot of activity on the lake and with
landbirds so it might be an interesting weekend.
