Today's Sunday visit to Pine Lake in southeastern Mahoning County, was almost a copy of last Sunday's bird tally. We checked things out from 12:30PM to 1:15PM. The main highlights were 169+ Common Mergansers and a juvenile Red-necked Grebe, appearing to be the same grebe seen last weekend. Some of the other bird species present were; 250+ Hooded Mergansers, 150+ Northern Shovelers, 50+ Pied-billed Grebes, 100+ American Coots, 50+ Red-breasted Mergansers, 100+ Ruddy Ducks, 100+ Gadwall, and a single Tundra Swan. The waterfowl were concentrated at the south end of the lake.
