Friends,
I spent a little over1.5 hours at the Cleveland Lakefront Nature Preserve
yesterday.
This was my first time to visit this location. If anyone is considering
this birding spot, it's really impressive and I highly recommend it. Easy
to access, easy to park, easy to walk the trail, and a very unusual habitat.
I usually hesitate to head to the "city" to do my birding, but this location
was a really nice surprise!
List observed:
Eastern Towhee - 4
BG Gnatcatcher - 12
Common Loon - 2 - East side of the island
Red Necked Grebe - 1 - Far southwest side of the island, in the marina area,
very close views
Brown Thrasher - 2
White Throated Sparrow - 1
Savannah Sparrow - 2
Bufflehead - 2 - both females, off north side of island
Northern Flicker - 12 - They were everywhere. I don't recall ever seeing so
many flickers.
Song Sparrows - 20
See you on the trails!
Spencer A. Ryan
