There was a great movement of birds today with over 1,000 common loons
counted and several uncommon species. The loons barely moved at all until
about 9:30 and then they moved continuously until they slowed down after a
snow squall went through about 10:15. Other birds of note was an immature
male harlequin duck, 2 long-tailed ducks, 6 surf and 3 white-winged scoters,
3 red-throated loons, 2 red-necked grebes, 1 red phalarope and 1 immature
dark parasitic jaeger. Birds slowed down quite a bit after 10:30.
