Thanks to Bill Whan for his post earlier today about back issues of the
Ohio Cardinal that are available on the OOS website at
http://www.ohiobirds.org/site/publications/cardinal/archiveissues.php
As Bill said, if you are new to birding in Ohio or a Varsity Birder (my
phrase) I am sure you will find things of interest in these pages of Ohio
birding history. If you take a few minutes to open a newer issue and one
from several years ago, I guarantee you will become intrigued with what you
find. Perhaps most interesting for me (so far - I've only looked at 4
issues) is the people who have been serious about Ohio birding for so many
years and the stories you can piece together from what you read. You will
certainly recognize the names you see - birders, photographers, scientists,
park employees and naturalists who are regular contributors to the Listserv
and Facebook pages about Ohio birding.
Thanks again to Glen Crippen for doing all the scanning. That's nothing but
grunt labor and we are all the beneficiaries of his hard work.
