Today I visited four areas in which I have nest boxes. These locations included Oxbow Road, Weise Road, Area N and Dustin Road. Each location had male Prothonotary Warblers ( a minimum of 4, maximum of 13) and visiting birders looking for them. Happily every birder I talked to left with a smile.
At Area N I observed my first female for the season. My first male was on April 19. Generally the females arrive 10 days later, ergo, the females are on schedule.
The numbers should just get better from here forward. The conditions are ideal with very good water levels under the nest boxes.
