OCTOBER 01, 2016 - CUYAHOGA VALLEY TOWPATH TRAIL CENSUS.HIKE: Red Lock Trailhead south to Merriman Valley. TIME: 7:25am - 4:35pm TEMP.: 57~71~69 COND.: Gray & overcast early; sun breaking through at 10:45am, turning partly sunny then mostly cloudy; light south breeze all day. TRAIL COND.: Fair; wet & muddy with puddles in some spots due to rain from previous three days; some construction fencing put up along old Jaite paper mill for contaminant clean-up at site; construction at bridge connector over trail from Akron Water Pollution Control Station to Akron Compost Facility; most fencing removed along sewer trunk line between Akron Compost Facility & Merriman Valley for E.P.A.-mandated repairs to sewer trunk line. RIVER COND.: High, swift and muddy due to previous three days of rain from stalled low front over much of Ohio; most sandbars completely covered.FT.MI.: 14.05 OBS.: John Henry & Douglas W. Vogus.
