Checking several areas around this village near the southern end of
Battelle Darby MetroPark, I found quite a few interesting residents,
including:
Vultures - a roost of 30+ birds at Osprey Lake had 26 Turkey Vultures and
4 Black Vultures.
Woodcock - flushed up a bird along the trail northeast of the SR 665 bridge
over Darby Creek.
Warblers - Parulas & Yellow-throateds were common along Darby creek, but I
also found a singing American Redstart at the SR 665 bridge.
Tanagers - Scarlets were singing in many areas, but one was joined by a
Summer Tanager at the Grassle Rd. limestone prairie.
Dickcissels - at least 6 were singing in the grasslands along the west side
of Youngs Rd, across from the SWACO landfill.
