I just re-skimmed Prohibition and the Progressive Movement, which I
had not looked at in years. The book holds up very well, and I had
forgotten completely the sections on organized labour, workers and
drink. If you are rethinking prohibition, it's worth taking it down
and blowing the dust off. It was published in 1963, the same year as
Symbolic Crusade and The Making of the English Working Class.
