Lake Shore Park (Ashtabula) - We stopped here specifically for the surf scoters that were seen a few days ago. We found them within minutes of arrival. Surf scoter - 3 Ruddy duck - 3 DC Cormorants - lots Mosquito Lake Wildlife Area (Trumbull) - Northern Harrier - 3 Bald Eagle - 6 Great-blue Heron - 7 Belted Kingfisher - 1 American Coot - 100s, quite a spectacle actually American Widgeon - 35 Ring-necked duck - 3 Gadwall - 25 Hooded Merganser - 18 Pied-billed Grebe - 30 Northern Flicker - 1 White throated sparrow - 9 White-crowned sparrow - 1 Dark-eyed Junco - 10 (my first troop of the season) Eastern Towhee - 1 Eastern Bluebird - 1 Yellow-rumped Warbler - 10 Cedar Waxwing - 26 As I scanned the lake for waterfowl I spotted a white goose pretty far out, hidden in the vegetation amongst a group of Canadas. When it finally emerged, I wasn't able to detect any black primaries as it cruised across the open water.
