A month or so ago, I posted a Call for Papers on a number of bulletin boards. With some embarrassment I realized that I had forgotten to post it here (or at least I have no memory of sending it to ATHG). And, given the annual theme, 19th century Northern New England, with its strong temperance history, ATHG is certainly an appropriate list. And so, here it is (for those of you who saw the announcement elsewhere, I should also point out that this notice includes a corrected address and phone number for Billie Gammon, one of the contacts). While I am at it I might give as well give an update. The KEYNOTE SPEAKER for the 1996 conference will be JERE DANIELL from Dartmouth. Faculty and graduate students from California, Minnesota, and Virginia (and of course Maine) have already been in touch regarding papers. I anticipate another worthwhile and enjoyable conference. CALL FOR PAPERS CALL FOR PAPERS CALL FOR PAPERS The following CFP deserves a brief supplementary remark. Some of you will remember having seen similar calls in previous years, since this is the fourth annual such conference. What makes this continuing conference UNIQUE is both its setting (at a Living History Center in central Maine) and its accommodations. All people presenting papers are housed, dined, and occasionally wined by local supporters of the Center. And a good time is usually had by all. Past participants have come from all parts of America and from Italy.
