For those looking for the gull.  There is nice observation point where you can look over the railroad yard and buildings where gulls often sit.

Cross the lift bridge over the river heading west.  After crossing take the second left to the north.  Go up the hill to the top and then turn right.  There is a small park at the end of that road that overlooks the harbor.  I have scanned gull flocks from there in the past.
