Jim McCormac's post last evening was the motivation I needed to go check out Funk Bottoms this afternoon. I was fortunate to meet up with Larry Richardson, Jen Auburn and Willis Brubaker, who had located two Nelson's Sharp-tailed Sparrows. I only saw one of the two, but a most cooperative individual it was.
To get to the spot from the parking lot at the observation deck, take the path that goes east for a short distance before turning south (rather than the one that goes directly south past the observation deck). The bird(s) were at the far corner of the dike--at the junction of an unmowed dike to the right.
