I am going to Aransas National Wildlife Refuge in Texas this weekend for 1 ˝
days of birding before a meeting. I would love to hear any advice from
those who have visited this location. I will arrive about 3:30pm Saturday
and plan to stay until dark on Sunday (hotel in Rockport).
Yes, I will be targeting Whooping Cranes and Roseate Spoonbills and will
have my spotting scope and my 400mm lens. I understand the cranes can be
more than a mile away from the 40’ observation tower. I would also like to
find White-tailed Hawks and Crested Caracara. All 4 of these would be ‘Life
Birds’ for me.
Thanks,
Matt Valencic
