Among the multitude of sparrows (Sunday, 5pm) in the grassy area south of
Dike 14
there was an aberrant white crowned sparrow. It had a normal crown but,
otherwise,
was white with a light orange tinge in a few places (reminiscent of winter
plumaged snow buntings).
It was at the far east end of this area. Otherwise I saw white crowned (the
most
numerous), white throated, Savannah, field, Lincoln's (1), chipping (2),
song sparrows and junco. There were few birds other than the aforementioned
sparrows.
