Hi,
Just a reminder that January 2008, Black Swamp Bird Observatory is finishing
up the first round of the Ohio Winter Bird Atlas. As I have mentioned
earlier, we have many atlas blocks which need covered in extreme NW, western
side along the Indiana border, and SE Ohio. The Bird Observatory's website
has a map which indicates what areas have less than 20 bird species. I ask
for your assistance in filling in the gaps of data this January. You can add
to the dataset while you are conducting your Bald Eagle mid-winter count for
the Ohio Division of Wildlife or while out looking for those unusual birds
this winter across the state or just want to get out and do something that
counts. It seems to be an unusual year and the blocks with no data may have
some of those unusual birds you may be searching for.
This information will be used to document the Ohio winter bird distribution
and provide an index of abundance for species. For more information please
go to www.bsbobird.org <http://www.bsbobird.org/> to check out what blocks
are near you need help. An excel spreadsheet is available for you to submit
your data via electronically to make it easier for you to contribute.
Thanks for the help of the many Listserve contributors.
Have a great 2008,
Julie Shieldcastle
