We checked out Buck Creek State Park this morning. There is open water at
the north end of the lake and at the south end of the lake with a lot of ice
remaining in the middle of the lake. From the boat ramp down from the
horsemen's area we saw a female White-winged Scoter on the far side of the
lake. There were also all of the mergansers visible from that point. Then we
drove to the access from Route 4 on the west side of the lake. On the way to
the lake we saw a few Pine Siskins. At the lake we got a little closer to
the scoter although it had swum toward the center of the lake while we moved
from one side of the lake to the other.
