This morning I had a number of winter finches at my house in North Perry,
Lake County. There was a group of 45+ pine siskins that also included 3
COMMON REDPOLLS, and 2 American goldfinch. The birds fed mainly in the
alders along the cliff, but briefly also came to my feeders. A group of 3
WHITE-WINGED CROSSBILLS (2 males and 1 female) flew into my Colorado blue
spruce that is loaded with cones. They did not stay more than a minute or
two before flying east.
