[log in to unmask][log in to unmask], 11 Aug 2014 10:36:26 -0400613_UTF-8 The season of post-breeding wandering (and early migration) is upon us. I stopped by both Sharon Woods & Blendon Woods yesterday, and found some unusual birds. Sharon Woods still had most of its summer birds, but did have several E.Kingbirds & Blue-gray Gnatcatchers, likely early migrants. Osprey - 1 bird calling as it soared high overhead
Herons - 2 Great Blues and 2 Green Herons
Shorebirds - 1 Solitary Sandpiper and 1-2 Kildeer
Swallows - 4-5 young Cliff Swallows were soaring over the pond as [...]44_11Aug201410:36:[log in to unmask]

Would be interested to hear what others think.  This matches quite closely with juvenile Brown-headed Cowbird except for the yellow tones.  Possibly the yellow in the image is an illusion?  The breast streaking, the facial pattern, the back pattern, the heavy bill all seem to point to juvenile Brown-headed Cowbird.  Bill is too conical and stout for meadowlark or oriole, back pattern is too plain for Dickcissel.  Facial pattern is off for House Finch - malar (?) stripe.

Subject: [Ohio-birds] mystery feeder bird

There was a mystery bird at my parents feeder in Marion over the weekend.
I'm not sure what it is due to the yellow on it. Thanks in advance for your
help. Picture here:
