The last day of January was pretty sweet in terms of birds spotted in the woods at North Chagrin near
Wilson Mills & Chagrin River Rd. Woodpecker species were active not surprisingly; pileated, red-
bellied, hairy & downy were on the scene. I heard ~3 golden-crowned kinglets and was able to watch
one forage in a hemlock with its crown feathers prominently displayed. To top it off, a bald eagle in
white-belly 2 plumage flew directly overhead giving my husband and I great views. Any day with an
eagle sighting is a good day!
